Hyperspectral Machine Vision: Past, Present and Future

Machine vision, as the “high precision eyes” of robots, plays a fundamentally crucial role in robotics and applications. Hyperspectral machine vision has the capability for multimodal imaging based intelligent analysis and recognition. The talk first presents the fact that the development of intelligent robots in the high-end manufacturing process has been driven by machine-vision challenges such as limited vision methodologies, poorer precision of measure and detection, and small-scaled defect datasets, etc.. Then this talk provides readers with the past, present and future of hyperspectral machine vision and its applications, covering high-speed and high-precision fast imaging, unsupervised anomaly detection principles, and cross-scene model deployment. Finally, the talk is concluded with the future development trends and outlook of hyperspectral machine vision.
Professor Yaonan Wang，Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in robotics and intelligent control, a professor of Hunan University, and the director of National Engineering Research Center of Robot Vision and Control. He is a member of Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Imagine and Graphics, Fellow of the Chinese Association of Automation, Fellow of the China Computer Federation, Fellow of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Vice Chairman of the National Intelligent Robot Innovation League, Expert Advisory Member of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Executive Director of the Chinese Association of Automation, Supervisor of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Member of the Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology Committee of Science & Technology Commission of Ministry of Education, and Chairman of Hunan Association of Automation. He was the Dean of the College of Electrical and Information Engineering and the School of Robotics of Hunan University, an expert in the field of intelligent robotics of the National 863 Program, and the Chief Scientist of the EU Fifth Framework International Cooperation Major Project.
Professor Wang has been engaged in the teaching and research of robot perception and control technology, and his achievements have been awarded one Second Prize of National Technology Invention Award, four Second Prizes of National Science & Technology Progress Award, and the International IEEE Robotics and Automation “Highest Industrial Application Award”. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed IEEE and other SCI papers, 15 books on robot perception and intelligent control, more than 80 national invention patents, and cultivated more than 70 PhDs (including IEEE Fellow, Chang Jiang Scholars Program, and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars). He has been honored as National Millions of Talent Projects, German Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers, National Prominent Teacher in Higher Education, National May Day Labor Medal, National Advanced Worker, National Innovation Award, National Advanced Individual in Textbook Construction, and Advanced Individual against COVID-19 in Hunan Province, etc.
